Friday Mar 25, 2022
Friday Mar 25, 2022
Join us as we visit one of the largest Falls in the world and get back to a big city as we start to explore Argentina. We talk about our experience visiting Iguazu Falls, Michael’s long walk to town and being questioned by the Police…without his Passport, and finding our rhythm as we travel this closely with just each other. Our family dynamic has changed so much as we have taken to the road, from our 45 day US road trip to our International skies adventure. I’m sure our family has become closer emotionally BECAUSE we are together physically. The diversity of our world is amazing! Going from ancient Mayan Ruins to nature jungles to a beautiful big city ballet encourages us to take a little bit from each culture and embrace it for what it is and what it means to each culture. We will take a piece of each place we visit in our hearts forever.

Episode #10: Driven by Our Demons or Drawn by Our Dreams?
Friday Feb 18, 2022
Friday Feb 18, 2022
Staying a few weeks in one place has re-energized the whole family to be able to beexcited in our travels again and capture the awe of every moment. We now find ourselves in Quito, Equador, where we rode a cable car to a volcano and took a 3 hour horse ride along the crest of it. Then we experienced lighting, thunder and hail on the way back! Exciting days in Quito! In this podcast episode we also discuss the reality of how the promise of technology that was supposed to liberate us has instead given us added layers of burden, imprisoning us in other ways. What adds stress to our lives vs what adds pleasure and excitement? We are beginning to feel the pull of simplicity calling to us; what is purposeful, what is meaningful, what really matters, and how we cut back on everything that doesn’t serve those core values.

We’ve discovered that sometimes comfort comes in the simple things. In this podcast episode we also talk about how traveling with children affects how we travel, when and how often we travel, as well as which sites we will see. Episode #7: Galapagos Islands
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
Thursday Feb 17, 2022
The Galapagos Islands: What do “normal” days look like in a paradise setting? We would have to say that some days we thrive and some days we survive. You will hear about both in this podcast episode. The “thrive” times are easy, but usually life’s most valuable lessons are learned in the “survive” times. Often you just have to push through and do the hard thing to experience the incredible payoff that comes at the end. One major lesson we are learning is to enjoy every moment as it is right now, whether climbing the hill or enjoying the view, forcing ourselves to stay present and enjoy THIS moment even if it is uncomfortable or painful. After all, life basically comes to us as alphabet soup. We can’t just pick out the letters we like. There is an endless combination of words that can be created out of that bowl of soup, like pain and joy, pleasure and discomfort. We need to drink it ALL down and experience it all as it comes to us, because it is still all the same bowl of soup we were given in life.

Episode #6: Security Breach: Michael’s Phone is Stolen
Saturday Feb 12, 2022
Saturday Feb 12, 2022
We all know that life is not filled with sunshine and roses, but that there are always bumps along the way. One such bump happened while we were in Chichicastenango when Michael’s phone was stolen. All our information and many weeks’ worth of pictures were gone. In this podcast, we want to share some of the hard things that can happen when traveling abroad. We know that social media can elevate expectations to unrealistic levels. If we go out looking for the world the way Instagram makes it look, we will be sorely disappointed. We are fed a steady diet of picture-perfect settings, but we don’t see the hundreds of mishaps along the way to get that one stunning moment captured on film. People view life and circumstances, even people, through many different filters. We believe it's the lens you choose to look through that will dictate the reality you see and experience, and whether it will be positive or negative.

Episode #5: Guatemala and the Mayan World
Wednesday Feb 09, 2022
Wednesday Feb 09, 2022
Exploring Guatemala and learning about the rich history and culture of the MayanWorld has been fascinating to us. We are truly experiencing being a foreigner in a very different land than we came from. It’s an interesting perspective being in a community, but not being a PART OF the community. They look at us with curiosity and are most often generous people, but we are definitely outsiders looking in. We are getting to experience the very real and raw, unscrubbed, non-touristy aspects of the country we are in, and it is beautiful in so many ways. Watching and learning from the Mayan culture and the indigenous people of that land gives us a sense of ancient history we simply don’t have in America. In this podcast, we also want to introduce you to Antigua, which we like to call The City of Secret Gardens and a place where the old meets the new.

Episode #2: Packing and Prep
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
Tuesday Feb 01, 2022
There will always be a reason to put off making a big change like traveling the world. In 2020 the biggest reason could have been fear of Covid-19. Listen to how we chose to not let that fear dictate how we were going to live. We also share how we are learning how to let go of things we love, things we enjoy having, and things we think we need but rarely use. Shedding our ‘stuff’ has been a process that is teaching us the difference between our needs and our wants. We are learning, and teaching our children, how to love the things we have and keep the things we love, while recognizing that we can’t hold our possessions so tightly that we never learn how to love with an open heart. We must accept that nothing is forever and dealing with loss is a reality of living and loving fully.
Michael and Caitlin Doemner are serial entrepreneurs, who have built several businesses together. They have three children - Cora, Jackson and Bradley. They are currently traveling the world as a family (@AllOverTheMapFamily) touring all 7 continents over the next few years. In December, they're launching a series of novels for middle-schoolers called "World Mystery Academy". They have a heart for children's education, having founded two schools in Pakistan and they actively support an English-teaching school in Guatemala.
